What to do · व्रत विधि
- Eat sattvic food on Dashami and avoid rice from Dashami evening.
- On Ekadashi: bath, Vishnu puja with tulsi, chant ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya’, read the Ekadashi katha; fast without grains and beans.
- Break the fast in the parana window next morning, ideally with tulsi water and a simple meal; do not break it during Hari Vasara.
Rule used: Ekadashi is observed on the day it prevails at sunrise (udaya tithi). Parana is next morning after sunrise, once Hari Vasara (the first quarter of Dwadashi) has passed and before Dwadashi ends. We show a simple window: from sunrise (or the end of Hari Vasara, if later) to 3h 20m after sunrise or the end of Dwadashi, whichever comes first.
