What to do · व्रत विधि
- Fast through the day; visit a Shiva temple in the evening.
- At night do abhishek with water, milk, curd, honey and bel patra; keep vigil if you can.
- The nishita (midnight) puja is the most important; break the fast next morning.
Rule used: The vrat is on the night Chaturdashi prevails at nishita kaal (local midnight, the midpoint between sunset and the next sunrise). We give a 48-minute nishita window.
